How do I send a glass portrait as a gift?

Put the recipient's address at checkout and the glass portrait goes straight to them, boxed with its corners protected and tracked end to end. Allow about five weeks door to door, and order by 19 November for Christmas. A name of up to 20 characters or a line of up to 80 can be set in glass under the portrait.

How do I send it to someone else?

Put their address at checkout and it goes straight to them. Most of what the studio makes leaves as a gift, so this is the usual order, not the exception.

The order is checked out through Tedooo, with shipping and any duties calculated at checkout, and it ships worldwide. You keep the tracking, so you know when it lands even when the box is not coming to you.

When do I need to order?

About five weeks before the day. A piece reaches most addresses in about five weeks door to door, today's estimate reads 32–36 days, and the estimate for your own order is shown before you pay. For Christmas, order by 19 November.

Where the weeks go, and why, is in the lead time guide.

What can I write on it?

A name of up to 20 characters under the portrait, a quote of up to 80 characters on one to three centred lines, or, with no photo at all, a words-only sign of up to 60 characters on up to four lines.

  • A pet's name under its portrait
  • A name and years, for a pet or a person who has gone: Max 2011-2025
  • Always by my side, or Thankful for you, under a family portrait
  • Mr & Mrs and the wedding date, for a couple
  • A family name and the year, as a sign: The Millers, est. 2019

The lettering is set in glass, not printed, so it is part of the piece. Which of the options suits which gift is compared in the portrait, name, quote or sign guide.

How is it packed?

Boxed with its corners protected and tracked end to end. It is built and packed in the studio, and it travels in its walnut shadow box, ready to hang when the box is opened.

Because the glass is layered in relief, the shadow box matters in transit: the frame is deep enough to hold the relief, and the box it travels in has its corners protected. The recipient lifts it out, hangs it on the box's own fitting, and the only care it asks is a soft dry brush or a cold hairdryer for dust.

What should I check before ordering a gift?

The photo and the design. A piece is made for one person and is not returnable, so the time to look hard at it is on the create page, before you approve.

  • One sitter, or two side by side, looking toward the lens so the eyes can be read
  • The name spelled as it should be, within 20 characters
  • The size: 30 × 30 cm for a hallway or a shelf, 50 × 50 cm above a sofa or a sideboard
  • Their address at checkout, not yours

Drawing the design is free and repeats as often as needed, so there is no cost to getting the photo right first. The photo guide says what works, and the create page is where it starts.

Questions this leaves

Can I include a gift message?

The piece itself can carry the message: a name of up to 20 characters or a line of up to 80 set in glass under the portrait. Whether a separate card goes in the box is not something this page can promise; ask the studio before you order and someone replies, generally the same day.

Can I order from a photo I have of their pet?

Yes, provided the pet is looking toward the lens so the eyes can be read; blur is forgivable. Upload it on the create page, see the design in about a minute, and approve it only when it looks like them.

Can they exchange it if it is not right?

No. Every piece is built for one buyer from one approved design, and there is no return on it. That is the reason the design is shown, free, before anything is cut, and the reason the studio answers questions before you buy, generally the same day.

What if I miss the Christmas cut-off?

The 19 November cut-off is the studio's date for Christmas. After it, the estimate shown before you pay is the honest answer for your order; the holiday designs leave the shop once an order placed that day could arrive after the day.
